Company History

CODICO was founded in Vienna on December 7, 1977, by Heinrich Hawlik and Ludwig Waktor. Then, as now, the company’s mission was to distribute electronic components on the strength of a highly customer-oriented strategy.

As a result of CODICO’s rapid success, more spacious office and warehouse facilities soon became necessary. Thus, in 1984, CODICO moved into a still rather modest building on Aspettenstrasse (in Perchtoldsdorf). With growth continuing throughout the next decade, CODICO eventually moved into its own, larger headquarters building on nearby Mühlgasse in 1994.

Upon founder Heinrich Hawlik’s retirement in 2004, the succession plan called for the current managing directors, Karin and Sven Krumpel, to assume the reins of CODICO.

By 2007, it was time to move again, this time into our present company headquarters. In addition to modern office, meeting and training facilities, the new building features a state-of-the-art warehouse and logistics center. Having planned the building’s architecture and design with an eye towards the future, even significant business expansion is now possible without relocating.

Since 2008, CODICO has enjoyed a stronger presence in Germany, France and Italy through the establishment of new subsidiaries and/or sales offices. As a result, we are able to provide a more local customer service in these key markets.

Expert technical support for our customers remains a top priority today, which is why CODICO employs only qualified electrical, electronic and telecommunications engineers for this key task. In addition, management continues to highly value ongoing training for all employees, as part of CODICO’s commitment to fully meeting the needs of customers now and in the future.
