CODICO IMPULSE 01/2003

CODICO CELEBRATES 25-YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

We celebrated CODICO's 25-year anniversary on December 7, 2002, with a large birthday cake.

CODICO was founded on December 7, 1977, by Heinrich Hawlik and Ludwig Waktor as a GesmbH & Co. KG. The company initially occupied rather small premises on Ketzergasse 29, in the Vienna district of Siebenhirten.

Though the premises have changed, the company's goal remains the same today as it was in 1977: to represent established, performance-oriented manufacturers of electronic components on the Austrian market and to sell their products successfully. Companies like FRAKO, MIAL and PREH were on CODICO's original line card.

Though CODICO initially focused more heavily on functioning as an agent, customers soon demanded an available stock of goods and free-house delivery. As a result, the focus soon shifted to the distribution branch.

Within three years time the original company spaces proved too small for the job, so CODICO was forced to seek a new location. In the spring of 1977 the company moved to a new address: Lehmanngasse 7, 1235 Vienna, in a building owned by the Volksbank Liesing. From the new office, CODICO soon began expanding the company's influence on the neighboring markets of Czechoslovakia, Poland and Hungary, where business picked up briskly.

When Mr. Ludwig Waktor retired in 1982, he sold his share of the company to Mrs. Ulrike Hawlik, and CODICO has remained in the hands of the Hawlik family ever since.

It didn't take long before sales volume, and especially the increased throughput of goods, created the need for even more space. 1983/84 saw the construction of CODICO's first company-owned facilities on Aspettenstrasse 48, in 2380 Perchtoldsdorf, and the new office building was occupied in September of 1984.

As the product lineup and sales volume continued to grow, so did the CODICO workforce, and, in the summer of 1991, we relocated to our present address. With 800 mē of office space and a 1200 mē warehouse, nothing stood in the way of CODICO's continued expansion. To make sure this holds true in the future as well, CODICO secured an adjacent plot of land in April of 1996.

Today CODICO has 10x more employees than when the company started in 1977. The sales turnover per employee has grown throughout the years as well, outpacing the inevitable increase in costs. The CODICO sales team is staffed exclusively by qualified electrical, electronic and communications engineers.

We feel confident that our investment in well-equipped office and warehouse facilities, together with our well-trained, hand-picked employees, puts us in an excellent position to meet the market challenges of the future. Our goal is to continue strengthening CODICO's reputation for being a competent, efficient and cost-saving partner to all of our customers.

Today CODICO's business operations extend to Germany, Austria and virtually all countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

On this special occasion, we would like to thank all of our customers and suppliers for placing their trust in CODICO. Without this trust, we wouldn't be where we are today.
