TDK's new type 0201 multilayer chip varistors offer one fifth the volume and weight of their type 0402 counterparts, so even the smallest boards now have room for these voltage dependent resistors. And, the smaller a multilayer chip varistor becomes, the more electrode surface area becomes available!
TDK's new varistors are ideally suited for use in IC circuit power supplies and reset circuits. Other applications include input and output terminals, where they prevent the malfunction of mobile devices and protect circuits from static electricity. The terminal electrodes are plated with nickel and tin, and the internal contacts are coated with silver. The new devices are also completely lead-free!
