HSP: THE NEW
HIGH-SPEED TECHNOLOGY
NOW THAT COLOR DISPLAYS HAVE BECOME THE NORM IN MOBILE TELEPHONES, AND INCREASINGLY IN
OTHER DAY-TO-DAY PRODUCTS AS WELL, DEMAND IS GROWING FOR COLOR DISPLAYS THAT CAN SHOW
VIDEO SEQUENCES AND FILMS.

However, the passive color STN
displays (CSTN) that are most frequently used today are too slow for the job. With a frame
rate of <10fps, they are of limited use when it comes to displaying moving images.
Motion portrayal requires approximately 24fps to be perceived as such by the human eye,
and to convey the impression of fluid motion to the brain.
The new HSP (High Speed Passive) technology with its FLA7 driving method was designed to
overcome the weakness inherent to standard CSTN. By improving performance to up to 30fps,
this technology permits the necessary frame speed for displaying films and video
sequences. A passive CSTN display manufactured with HSP technology thus ranks only
slightly below a competing TFT display in performance, while offering an attractive price
advantage.
