Y-CON SERIES EXPANDED TO NOW INCLUDE PROFINET COMPONENTS
Building on the success of ProfiBus, the ProfiNet standard is set to become one of the most important cabling standards for industrial automation applications.
The connector manufacturer YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS first introduced its new ProfiNet components at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES trade show in Nürnberg, in Novemeber 2005. The extremely robust cabling components are now offered as part of the company's proven Y-Con family. The products are available with IP69K, IP68, IP67 and IP20 protection ratings to suit a variety of application environments.
The four-stranded ProfiNet wire is equipped with a PUR sheathing for use in industrial environments and can withstand at least 1 million bending cycles when used in the drag chain.

It is specified for Cat 5e and suitable for temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C.
The Y-Con ProfiNet connector employs piercing contacts and the mating face conforms 1:1 to the RJ45 connector standard. It can therefore be used with the standard RJ45 jack, and is backwards compatible.
As an added customer service, YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS also offers ready-made cable assemblies for industrial ProfiNet applications.
YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS is a member of the PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation e. V. ("International ProfiBus User Organization").
The other Y-Con series for applications in harsh industrial environments are:
