New THS power resistor series offers outstanding performance at lower cost!
Recently added to TYCO ELECTRONICS' CGS range of power resistors, the new aluminum-housed THS series is based on the high-performance HS series of devices.
Encapsulated in silver aluminum, THS series power resistors are extremely stable, high-quality wire-wound resistors capable of dissipating high power in a limited space with relatively low surface temperatures. Power is rapidly dissipated as heat through the aluminum housing to a specified heat sink. Typical applications are vehicle-braking and balancing resistors, capacitor charging and discharging, crowbar resistors, filters and a wide variety of general electrical machinery applications.
Designed for heat sink mounting, the new THS components are available with power ratings from 10W up to 50W and resistance values ranging from 0.01Ohm to 50KOhm.

Thanks to their high quality materials and high stability, THS resistors are able to withstand pulse energies of up to 320J and overloads of up to 25 times rated power. Solder tag terminations are standard, however versions with cable, threaded or fast-on connections are also available. Standard inductance values are kept to a maximum of 50ppm, and low-inductance versions with Ayrton Perry windings are also offered.
Testing of THS series power resistors for conformance to relevant international, MIL or customer specifications is available through TYCO ELECTRONICS.
