METAL COVER FOR Y-CON SERIES CONNECTORS!
Heavy duty industrial applications can now be realized!
Munich, March 2007 - The Y-Con series for industrial cabling applications is well known for providing protection up to the IP69K level in Ethernet and other field bus systems. This is attributable to the connector's unique housing, the Y-ConCover-10. With the launch of its new metal cover for the Y-con series, YAMAICHI now provides a means of also enhancing mechanical protection.
The new metal cover, designated the Y-ConCover-30, can be retrofitted to existing Y-Con cable assemblies by simply screwing it to the Y-ConCover-10's plastic housing (IP67/IP68/IP69K). The screws are made from stainless steel and the robust cover from high-quality die-cast zinc, thus providing additional mechanical protection against external forces.
The Y-ConCover-30 targets applications requiring heavy duty connections, as found in manufacturing plants, oil platforms and the on-board electrical systems of construction machinery and ships. The cover material supports a tested operating temperature range of -20°C to +120°C.

To date, the Y-Con series consists of the Y-ConRJ45, Y-ConProfiNet, Y-ConUSB and Y-ConIEEE (FireWire). All of these standard interface and field bus connectors can be supplied with the new Y-ConCover-30 metal cover, or it can be retrofitted in such existing systems. The only prerequisite for installing the Y-ConCover-30 is that the Y-ConCover-10 IP69K housing is either installed with it or already in place (for retrofits). YAMAICHI already offers a metal cover offering IP20 protection: the Y-ConCover-20, with additional signal interference protection up to 5KV.
I would be happy to tell you more!
