CODICO RUNS COME RAIN OR SHINE - THE VIENNA BUSINESS RUN ON SEP 6, 2007!
Thursday, September 6, 2007: A weather report says more than a thousand words!
Vienna will remain cloudy with frequent showers throughout the day, the heaviest in the morning hours and evening. Considerable rainfall is expected and flooding cannot be ruled out for some areas, especially the Vienna Woods. The strong northwesterly winds may gust up to 60 km/h, with the high temperatures reaching 12?C. Not exactly a reason to smile! Nevertheless, CODICO's 6 brave runners refused to be intimidated and made their way through the morning rain to Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium. Fortunately, the rest of the day's forecast was off the mark, as the rain soon went away! As it turned out, CODICO's 2 running teams - Running Sushi and Non Sped Rockets - managed top times at the event!!!
Karine Burnier: 30:25.1
"I hadn't run since my school days, but this time I let my colleague, Andreas Schuster, talk me into it. He told me it was a great experience to run, and that I shouldn't miss it. He was right! We laughed a lot before and after the run, and the entire day was great fun. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!"
Andreas Mader: 22:10.5
"Despite feeling like I was 'mud wrestling' at times, not to mention the weather warnings for the evening, the event was a huge success. I had a blast!"
Michael Schrutka: 21:20.7
"I dressed much too warm for the surprisingly fine weather, without any rain or wind. But after dropping several layers of clothing I was adequately motivated to zigzag around the large water puddles like a rabbit in the field. My only regret at the finish was not finding any Glühwein (mulled wine) to enjoy in the cool temperature. But what the heck, Advent time will be here soon!"

Andreas Schuster: 25:49.7
"This was my second time competing in the Business Run (the first was in 1993) and my time was two minutes faster this year. Though people generally run for themselves, team spirit was first and foremost on our minds, and that's what I liked best about the event!"
Christian Sichtar: 20:44.5
"The conditions certainly weren't the best for my very first Business Run. The adverse weather didn't help, and the race distance was such that I didn't reach my ideal 'operating temperature' until the end. But the positive mood of my team really got me motivated, and I'm quite satisfied with my time, considering it was my first 5km 'sprint' event. Looking back, we really didn't need to hurry through the race since the rain wound up staying away."
Elisabeth Streiter-Bax: 21:54.1
The morning of Sep 6, 2007: "I couldn't believe it - rain, wind and a high temperature of 12°C. I don't even like training in conditions like that, and today I'm supposed to run a race??? After a brief phone call with my CODICO colleagues (I was on vacation during this time), I decided to go ahead and run. Despite having to jump over a few puddles along the course, it turned out to be a really fast race."
