CODICO TEAM: KARINE BURNIER

As you can probably tell, I was born in France! After earning my degree in sales and marketing, I immediately spent a year working as an au pair in Ireland. At CODICO, I have been a member of the office sales team since November 2006, and I support the active components group responsible for the Austrian sales territory.
2008 will make it 10 years since I first tried a Wiener Schnitzel in an Austrian restaurant, experienced "Viennese charm" (it took me a while to understand it, actually) and tasted - and immediately loved - apple strudel in a local Aida café. My first "oh-la-la-la" feeling was for the Vienna Christmas Market, while Tafelspitz (boiled beef) provided my first shock! I must say that comprehending the reason for serving "meat in a soup" is difficult for me, but then again, understanding the local dialect in Vorarlberg can be too! In all sincerity, I now feel at home living in Austria, and I only return to my roots - a small village in the wine region of Beaujolais, some 20 km from Lyon - once or twice each year. I love the warmth and friendliness of Austrian "Gemütlichkeit," but also the cleanliness here, and the respect that people show for each other. All told, I feel very comfortable living here. My friends and co-workers are very passionate about sports, and so I, too, have begun actively participating in them (previously, I had ascribed to Winston Churchill's motto of "no sports!"). I now do Pilates and Yoga twice a week at CODICO, and I often run after work and on the weekends. When the weather permits, I enjoy rock climbing and hiking, and I go diving on my vacations. Lastly, I also like bicycling.

Spending time with my friends and just relaxing at home are important to me, too - in fact, I may be one of the few "Austrians" without a TV at home! I'm a fan of all things Asian, and I furnished my apartment according to Feng Shui principles, complete with a temple guardian, Buddha statue and lotus flowers. I'm also very much looking forward to summer, as I plan to again be braiding Kumihimo bands. In general, I am a very balanced person (at least I hope so!) and I rarely let things upset me.
