POWER SUPPLIES WITH 200% OVERLOAD RATING

Power supplies with a 200% overload rating, manufactured to handle dynamic loads and as replacements for over-sized solutions.

During their start-up cycle, motor, valve, printer and heating systems are known to consume high levels of current for brief periods at a time, even if they consume relatively harmless amounts when averaged out over the long run.
As we also know, higher current levels generate heat, and that can place quite a stress on the power supply…Which leads us to the following question: "Is the stress that accumulates within the power supplies used in the above mentioned equipment truly "harmless" over the long run?
One answer to this question is to choose an oversized power supply for low-cost applications.

Power supplies that are up to the challenge of handling peak load surges, however, must have the following characteristics:

Virtually no heating of components, even at peak load
Excellent regulation, during both peak and low load conditions
No need for forced cooling, even during brief peak surge periods
The operating life is optimized for dynamic load applications, and not to accommodate peak static loads
The mains voltage has only a minimal effect on the power supply's efficiency (machines frequently are located in areas with poor mains coverage)

THE NEW LEP SERIES FROM COSEL:
COSEL's new LEP Series of switching power supplies were designed to handle peak load surges in the types of equipment mentioned above.

There is no doubt that the new series was developed with cost considerations and quality over the long run in mind. These open card modules include an active PFC input stage for continuous operation throughout the entire mains voltage range of 85 - 264VAC or 120 - 370VDC.
The LEP series offers a choice of outputs, 24VDC / 36VDC / 48VDC, and rated power, 100W / 150W / 240W. Each version is capable of handling 200% overload for 10 seconds, with a duty cycle of 35%. All devices share the same length, while width differs only slightly; 1cm increments separate the three different power versions. The effort and cost associated with finding the right sized replacement in the course of a system upgrade is thereby greatly reduced.

Dimensions:
Length: 222mm for all versions
Width: 75mm (100W) / 85mm (150W) / 95mm (240W)
Height: 35mm (100W) / 40mm (150W) / 45mm (240Watt)

The following options are available:
Standard: the bare power supply as a PCB module, with connectors
Available with cover and/or chassis
Remote on/off via control input
Screw connections instead of plug connectors
Low leakage current for applications with power supplies operating in parallel
Reduced undervoltage cut-off, either 50VAC or 70VDC (Duty cycle: 1s/30s)
Additional potential-free voltage (3 Watts).

The LEP series is third party tested and listed in accordance with such relevant standards as UL/cUL 60950, EN60950 and EN50178. They are also CE approved (for LVD and EMC) and conform to CISPR22-B / EN55022-B.

Have we sufficiently "peaked" your interest? Please call to let us know what your application requires.
