EMBEDDED MODULES FROM DIGI CONNECTWARE!
DIGI CONNECTWARE HAS EXPANDED ITS RANGE OF ETHERNET SOLUTIONS BY INTRODUCING TWO WLAN-CAPABLE EMBEDDED MODULES.
Today's industrial applications increasingly call for a simple means of adding an interface for Ethernet connectivity. The Connect ME and Connect EM modules have been successfully meeting this demand for some time now.
The Connect ME is a simple gateway module with an RJ-45 connector, a serial TTL interface and 5 I/Os. Its compact design permits it to fit inside a metal housing that measures a mere 37 x 19 x 19 mm.
The Connect EM module offers an additional serial TTL interface and an SPI interface, as well as 9 total I/Os.
Both modules use an integrated 32-bit ARM7TDMI from NetSilicon, the Ethernet processor specialist, and each features a basic software design that requires no additional programming to use in most cases.

The modules are administered via either a web-interface or using the serial interface, and both come with a set of protocols already implemented. The serial interfaces operate at 230 Kbps max.
Low-cost development kits are available for applications that require adaptation of the devices' functionality. The kits come with all the necessary tools required for programming, such as compiler, debugger and baseboard. An extremely cost-effective integration kit is also available for applications that require only product evaluation.
Digi has expanded the standard module family to include two new devices with WLAN-Ethernet interfaces, the Connect WI-ME and Connect WI-EM. The new modules have virtually the same form factor as the wired versions, and they use identical interfaces. That makes it easy for designers who currently use the EM or ME to convert to the WLAN version without changing existing layouts. Easy-to-use, low-cost development kits for the wireless modules will be available as of July 2004.
