SEOUL SEMICONDUCTOR: P3 Z-POWER LEDs
SEOUL SEMICONDUCTOR (SSC), THE KOREAN LED SPECIALIST, HAS SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED PRODUCTION OF ITS NEW GENERATION OF HIGH POWER LEDs (P3 SERIES).
The P3 series represents the follow-on generation of the company's existing P1 series of products. Many improvements can be found inside the new, round package, which also accommodates additional optics (lenses).
The initial members of the P3 family are available in 1W versions with a 130° radiation angle and Lambertian emission characteristics. Available colors currently include white, warm white, red, green, blue, amber, cyan and royal blue. The P3 generation has been specifically designed for applications requiring high luminous power and excellent efficiency. The main application areas are therefore general illumination and lighting, as well as large-surface lighting and backlighting.
CODICO and SEOUL SEMICONDUCTOR also offer expert technical advice to help customers find the right solution for their specific application. This service includes an evaluation of which Z-Power LED product best fits the customer's application, and how to achieve the right luminous yield and distribution, as well as an evaluation of the technical processes used during serial production.
SILICONE - INSTEAD OF EPOXY
For white and blue LEDs in particular, the use of epoxy resin molding is not the optimal solution, since the UV component of white-blue light damages the resin's long-term stability. Thus, SSC uses only silicone molding for all colors in the P3 series of Z-Power LEDs.

The use of silicone ensures a long product life, typically 70,000 hours for white LEDs, when used in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
All SEOUL SEMICONDUCTOR products are manufactured according to the "SSC Environmental Principle," and thus already conform to RoHS directives for the proper processing.
SEOUL SEMICONDUCTOR has announced additional new P3 family members arriving in fall to late 2005. Examples include 2.5W and 5W versions, as well as power LEDs with Batwing radiation characteristics.
Please contact CODICO for data sheets, samples and technical support. You'll be convinced of the SSC advantage!!!
