POL CONVERTERS DELIVERING UP TO 60A OUTPUT CURRENT ON A 13.8cm² FOOTPRINT
WHEN IT COMES TO COST-EFFECTIVE, READ-TO-USE POWER SOLUTIONS, NOTHING BEATS OUR NEW HIGH-CURRENT POL CONVERTER MODULES FROM ARTESYN, AND THEY PACK A CURRENT DENSITY OF UP TO 4.8A/cm²
The new converters enable the regulation and control of up to 60A on 13.8cm² of board space, and they are also an "antidote" for high transient output currents, as they can be used without bulky external capacitors for storing transient energy.

Employing an advanced multi-phase topology that delivers an ultra-fast switching frequency of 1.05MHz, the devices achieve full-load conversion efficiencies as high as 96%. They are suitable for use in convection and forced air cooled systems across an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
ARTESYN's two new product series, the PTH04040 and PTH12040, differ in the following respects: An input voltage range of 2.95VDC to 5.5VDC from a supply bus or, in the second case, 8 to 14VDC from a loosely regulated intermediate bus supply, as delivered by 12V power supplies and intermediate bus converters. The output voltage range can be set from 0.8 to 5.5VDC or 0.8 to 3.6VDC using an external resistor, with useable power ranging as high as 250W.
The converters are designed as open-frame modules measuring 52mm x 26.5mm, at a height of 9mm. An outstanding feature of both is the Auto Track sequencing function, which enables multiple converter modules to track each other, or to be controlled by an external voltage, during power-up and power-down. Also integrated are remote on/off and differential remote sensing facilities. And the pre-bias start-up capability permits the devices to be powered up even in situations where feed-through from a multi-rail device might cause a voltage to be present on the converter output. The devices' undervoltage thresholds are programmable, while on-board short circuit and overtemperature protection both provide fully automatic recovery.
