CONNECTIONS MADE TO MEASURE: FULLY ASSEMBLED SPECIALIZED HIROSE CONNECTORS

THE ASSEMBLY OF HIGHLY SPECIALIZED CONNECTORS ALSO REQUIRES SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW. COSTUMERS WHO DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE HEADACHES CAN REST ASSURED, BECAUSE THEY CAN SIMPLY ORDER THEIR FULLY ASSEMBLED CONNECTION SOLUTIONS FROM CODICO, WITH A BROAD RANGE OF CONNECTORS AND CABLE MATERIALS AVAILABLE.

Precision connectors are an absolute specialty at HIROSE, a manufacturer with a focus on highly specialized solutions from miniature coaxial cables and extremely flat foil connectors, to multi-pole connections for coaxial cables with a diameter of less than 1mm. However, assembly work for such specialized connectors places great demands on materials and processes. For example, the insulation on the obligatory telephone cable used with the ultra-miniature U.FL coaxial connector cannot be conventionally removed. A special machine is required. Users frequently don't have the ability to work these and other types of connectors in a manner that ensures uniform quality, but CODICO offers the necessary customer support in the way of complete cable assembly solutions, including the assembled connectors.

For example, for the HIROSE U.FL, CODICO supplies complete assemblies with any existing connector standard optionally available for the opposite end of the telephone cable, from N, TNC and SMA types, to MMCX and FME, and MCX to SMB versions.

Typical applications for these pre-assembled cables include GSM and GPRS systems operating at frequencies ranging from 900MHz to 1.9GHz, GPS (1.574GHz) systems and data transmission solutions conforming to the standards 802.11a, b or g and operating at frequencies from 2.4GHz up to 5.87GHz. For each type of configuration, from DC to GHz solutions, CODICO can provide customers HIROSE's comprehensively documented measurement results showing the behavior with respect to VSWR and insertion loss for typical cable lengths.

Specialized connector solutions are also required for connecting displays to a main or graphics board, and HIROSE can provide them as well, e.g., the DF9, DF19, DF13, DF14 and FH12 types. In fact, according to the manufacturer, approximately 70% of all displays assembled in Asia use HIROSE connectors. For example, the DF9 series is the standard connector for Sharp displays. Cable options for use in this case are bundles of individual cable strands or individual coaxial cables (with the DF types), or flexible foils (FPC) or flexible flat cables (FH types).

CODICO supplies ready-to-use, fully assembled cables in all imaginable lengths, usually in a 1:1 version, i.e., with the same connector on both ends of the connection, and always precisely matching the needs of the customer and application.

Additional examples of customer-tailored cabling for internal equipment connections include LVDS signal transmission solutions for stepped displays, flexible board connections, coaxial connections, shielded signal cables and printer-head connections in printers. For external connections, the USB, DVI and Mini-Sub standards deserve mention, and antenna and signal interfaces are also part of the CODICO lineup.
