LEDs - especially high-power LEDs (1W,
2.5W, 5W) - are finding increasing use within the lighting industry. However, they require
a different means of connection to the mains supply than do 230V AC or 12V DC operated
illuminators.
Because lighting diodes generally operate with a constant current, a special fixed current
power supply is needed. In addition, regulating the brightness of LEDs can be difficult.
As a result, manufacturers of light fittings frequently choose not to make their own power
supplies, preferring ready-made solutions for LEDs.
Our supplier and manufacturer, LUMOTECH Holland BV, has years of experience in the power
supply business to fall back on. Established in 1978, LUMOTECH develops and manufactures
drivers for illuminators, halogen lamps and power LEDs.
