ASIX CONNECTS
EVERYTHING TO ETHERNET
ASIX CORPORATION, a new supplier in
the CODICO lineup, was founded in 1995, in Taiwan. With semiconductor products focused
entirely on networking, communication and connectivity applications, ASIX solutions
perfectly complement CODICO's existing active component linecard.
ASIX's core technological competency lies in Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and USB.
The
product range is split into three groups:
1. Embedded Ethernet
These products enable the implementation of a standard memory interface, such as SRAM, for
Ethernet use. In most cases, commercially available microcontrollers with an external
memory interface are able to communicate with this SRAM interface. ASIX offers Fast
Ethernet versions with integrated PHY, as well as Gigabit Ethernet without PHY. The
individual chips also vary with respect to data bus width and specific features. The
"Embedded Ethernet" table provides a precise overview.
2. High-Speed USB to LAN
This product group comprises devices that create a bridge from high-speed USB 2.0 to Fast
Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet. Drivers for such common operating systems as Windows Linux,
WinCE and MacOS are available. The "High-Speed USB-to-LAN" table lists the
available chips and their features.

3. Embedded Network SoC
ASIX's Embedded Network SoC products are single-chip microcontrollers with an integrated
TCP/IP Stack and a Fast Ethernet MAC/PHY. At the heart of each solution lies an 8-bit
single-cycle RISC core that is 10x faster than the legacy 8051 CPU core. Because the RISC
is compatible with the 8051/80390 instruction set, it can be programmed using standard
8051 compilers. The chips are also equipped with on-board FLASH and SRAM memory, and
include an integrated TCP/IP Accelerator for faster processing. Timer modules and several
different interfaces are standard on-chip peripherals. For a brief overview of these
products, please see the "Embedded Network SoC" table.
ASIX also provides comprehensive documentation, as well as support in the form of
developer kits and reference designs, for all three product groups.
If the above sounds interesting, please don't hesitate to contact CODICO!
