THE SMALLEST AVAILABE LDO POWER MANAGEMENT IC's -A MOST EFFICIENT SOLUTION FOR PORTABLE DEVICES! MICREL HAS INTRODUCED THE MIC2213/4, A DUAL-LDO REGULATOR WITH INTEGRATED POR (POWER ON RESET) SUPERVISOR AND OPEN-DRAIN DRIVER
The device's two regulators source up to 150mA and 300mA respectively, with an added POR circuit on the latter for detecting output faults. The MIC2213/4 also features an open-drain N-channel MOSFET, which can be used to drive external LEDs for backlighting applications in portable electronics (e.g., cellular phones). The chip's total current consumption is a mere 48µA, compared to existing discrete solutions that consume a whopping 200µA. That translates into a significant standby time improvement for battery operated devices.

The MIC2213/4 fits into a tiny 3 x 3mm Micro Lead Frame (MLF™) package - a new type of housing that saves valuable space over SOT or SOIC solutions. In fact, the device is the smallest LDO for portable applications currently available on the market. The MIC2213/4 also feature a µCap regulator design, which makes use of small ceramic capacitors that beat tantalum in both size and price. And that spells overall system cost savings!
