240 WATT DC/DC TRANSFORMER ACTING AS THE FRONT-END IN INTERMEDIATE BUS SUPPLY ARCHITECTURES
With immediate effect ARTESYN will be manufacturer "QUASI DC TRANSFORMER" 240 Watt DC/DC modules for use as the "front-end" in distributed supply networks with efficiency levels of up to 95%.
Comparisons with a transformer are obvious since the output voltage is hardly regulated and is available exclusively as an intermediate product for further processing.
The modules are based on an open printed circuit board measuring 37 x 58 mm.
We can supply the following optional versions for different installation types (reflow-capable):

Vertical using conventional THD pins on a base area of 68 x 10 mm (h=35 mm).

Horizontal soldering using conventional THD pins on 58 x 37 mm (h=11 mm max.)
•
Horizontal SMT installation using solder ads on 58 x 37 mm (h=11 mm max.)
•
Horizontal SMT installation using solder balls auf 58 x 37 mm (h=11 mm max.)
From an input of 48 V DC nominal the modules supply 12 V with 0 A to 20 A using cooling with forced air (0°C...+50°C) and also provide a galvanic insulation of 2 kV DC between the input and output.
The modules are inherently safe with "foldback" overcurrent limits from 25 A on the output side and overvoltage protection from 13.8 V DC with a self-resetting overtemperature cut-out.
The undervoltage cut-out on the input side has hysteresis values between 38.6 V and 41 V, with specifications being assured in a standard operating range of 48V (+/-10%).
The remote on/off function (< 0.8 V / 1.7 V <) enables standby operation with a reduction in closed-circuit current from 100 mA to 2 mA.
The transformers are tested and listed pursuant to UL and TÜV/CE.
