XGEN: THE MOST INNOVATIVE POWER SUPPLY SERIES
THE MOST INNOVATIVE POWER SUPPLY SERIES ON THE MARKET TODAY HAS TO BE THE XGEN BY EXCELSYS.
EXCELSYS has specially developed this new power supply generation to deliver the latest in "X-treme" technologies to power supply applications. As a general rule, electronic devices use an outsourced power supply board selected according to the motto, "Just good enough is the best possible solution." And hardware designers know exactly how to integrate them into a system: Add a mains filter just in case; provide enough air circulation, and enough space for the now available standardized sizes; if necessary, also add a metallic housing to avoid EMC problems. And that's it - the solution is ready!
However, a cost/benefit analysis for such a workaround yields a few question marks: ?: Why shouldn't a power supply be just as innovative as the rest of the design? ?: Shouldn't today's quest for increased miniaturization also include smaller dimensions for power supplies? ?: Why shouldn't the power supply module be a plug-and-play solution, or have an input stage, without needing extra components? ?: Wouldn't it be much easier to find a current/voltage combination right off the shelf, with no need for further adaptation?
Introducing the Xgen: a quantum leap in power supply technology!
The innovative aspect of these field configurable power supplies starts with a rated efficiency of 91%, a value achieved only by today's DC/DC converters. What's more, the power density of 15W/in³ is double that of any similarly configurable power supply on the market. Even compared to non-configurable single voltage power supplies in its class, the Xgen is more compact.

Board space management is now much simpler, due to the standard 1U (40.4mm) overall height and a length of 260mm for all available power versions (from 200W to 1,200W). The only mechanical difference is the two available overall widths - 89mm or 127mm - for all versions with up to 12 outputs.
The mains input uses an IEC320-C14 connector requiring no additional filter. The adjustable output voltages range from 1.5V to 58V per output and are isolated from each other. The outputs can be set directly on the power supply, or via external control voltages, or factory configured as needed. Adjustable current limiting, adjustable fold-back characteristic curve, and adjustable brickwall constant limiting are also standard features. The output modules integrate active load sharing for parallel connection of devices. The outputs can furthermore be switched on/off remotely. A standby 5V output remains available when the power supply device is shut off, although the cooling fan itself will power down.
The regulation rate of less than 1/4ms for load steps (25% to 75%) on the up to 240W outputs was derived from point of load converter technology.
Worldwide use of Xgen power supplies is supported through conformity to the latest international standards and certified international safety approvals. Irish know-how lies at the heart of the Xgen series, which is manufactured solely in European factories.
A choice of Xgen versions is available for use in the following applications: - industrial applications according to IEC60950 - medical technology applications according to IEC60601 - extra quiet fan version for noise sensitive applications - a version for use in extended temperature range environments
The X-treme stretching of physical limits can be fun, while optimizing the overall application costs no longer requires a GENius! With the ability to balance both sides of the equation, the Xgen power supply series can help you make this your new paradigm.
