DESKTOP AND PLUG-IN POWER SUPPLIES - FOR ANY APPLICATION
CODICO OFFERS A LARGE VARIETY OF EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLIES IN VARIOUS DESIGNS.
Do external power supplies save time and money over fixed applications that may require certification? Yes, but with qualifications: Only if one can avoid problems like too few stationary power supplies to satisfy the short lifetimes of consumer applications, or if it leads to an undesirable "cable spaghetti" for the end user.
CODICO offers a large choice of external power supplies meeting the following construction design requirements:
GREEN POWER:
All of the newest designs in the range meet the voluntary requirements of ECOC/ Phase 3- 2005. Our green power supplies waste less than 0.3 to 0.75W in idle, depending on the nominal rating selected, which extends from 5W to 90W.
MEDICAL POWER:
This product segment covers power supplies that conform to the IEC60601 standard for medical applications, as well as devices that comply to IEC61010 for use in laboratory measurement applications. All of the available medical power solutions meet stringent leakage current, isolation strength, creepage and sparking distance, electromechanical immunity, and operational reliability requirements.
SIZE VS. LONG OPERATING LIFE:
The contradictory nature of choosing between the size of a device and internal heating of components in closed power supplies (particularly for devices with a rated power above 25W) can be solved, but only through uncompromising use of only those devices that provide the optimal relationship between dissipated heat and surface area.
PRIMARILY OPTIMIZED FOR LOW COST:
Particularly those power supplies chosen as a low-cost solution may be a bit larger, or may have a housing that doesn't fully enclose the device. Weight and size, however, aren't always the top consideration for selecting the best possible solution.

PLUG-IN POWER SUPPLIES:
· The PSA-R family from PHIHONG
The very popular PSA-R family of plug-in power supplies features an interchangeable input clip. The wide input range and interchangeable, clip-on mains outlet adapter - a very user friendly feature - help the device deliver on the promise of worldwide use. The series is extremely compact and helps do away with "cable spaghetti" on trips, as no mains power cord is required.
Available versions: 5W / 10W / 15W / 20W
The PSA-R family also includes a USB adapter version requiring no separate output cord. The standard USB cable conveniently connects to the socket on the power device (e.g., instead of to a PC).
PLUG-IN POWER SUPPLY AND DESKTOP POWER SUPPLY IN ONE:
· The ZVC65HG series from EOS The ZVC65HG series is the "convertible" alternative among conventional external power supplies. The 65W devices are packed into an absolutely compact 3" x 3" x 1" housing with a quadratic footprint. They can be connected to the power outlet using the supplied connector, or by attaching a cable to the standard IEC connector to create a desktop power supply.
The ZVC65HG series stands out among the competition with efficiency ratings well above 90%. The series uses only highest quality components, designed for long-duration loading and a long operating life, which makes the series a true high-end solution among competing stand-alone power supplies.
DESKTOP POWER SUPPLIES
· The compact ZVC series from EOS The EOS ZVC sets itself apart through an ultra compact footprint and long operating life, not to mention a very competitive price.
The series is available in 45W / 65W / and 90W versions, with the 90W model permitting dynamic overload conditions. The latter model is also one of the few desktop devices equipped with HCC according to EN61000-3-2.
· The low-cost LVC series from EOS The LVC series was uncompromisingly designed as a cost optimized power supply, yet delivers the expected EOS quality. The devices are manufactured by CELETRONIX in India. Starting in early 2005, the series will be available in two separate power versions: 36W and 55W.
· The MVC65 series for medical technology applications The EOS MVC65 series has been approved for medical applications and delivers 65W in the 19V, 24V, and 48V versions, and 55W in the 12V and 15V versions. IEC60601 approval makes these power supplies suitable for worldwide use.
· PSA16U Ethernet Adapter from PHIHONG These external Power-over-Ethernet power supplies were specifically developed for injecting power to Ethernet lines. The PSA-16U housing has two screw lugs for simplified mounting, as well as two Ethernet inputs for no-fuss looping through the line. The adapter conforms to IEEE802.3 and incorporates overcurrent and overvoltage protection, as well as LEDs for signaling "connection OK", "network OK", "power supply failure", etc. It is thus fully compatible for use as prescribed in the standard.
