MINDSPEED INTRODUCES
HIGH-DENSITY VOICE AGGREGATION NETWORK PROCESSOR
IN OCTROBER 2005, MINDSPEED INTRODUCED THE M27479, TSP3 NETWORK PRODCESSOR THAT IS CAPABLE
OF AGGREGATING AN ARRAY OF THE COMPANY'S COMCERTO VOICE PROCESSORS. IN ADDITION TO THE
M27479, MINDSPEED HAS ALSO LAUNCHED THE VOICEMAKER FIRMWARE THAT COMPLEMENTS THE
PROCESSOR. THUS, WHEN USED IN COMBINATION WITH THE VOICE PROCESSORS FROM THE COMCERTO
FAMILY, VOIP EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS NOW HAVE A "ONE-STOP-SHOPPING" SYSTEM
SOLUTION FOR COMPLETE VOIP MEDIA GATEWAYS.
The M27479 TSP3 traffic stream processor is designed specifically for aggregating multiple
Comcerto devices over a packet-over-SONET (POS) bus, or by using an Ethernet switch.

The device has an aggregate data
throughput of 840 Mbps, as it is able to handle up to 9000 voice channels, and it provides
packet routing, filtering, network address translation (NAT) and comprehensive statistics.
Also, like other members of the TSP3 family, the M27479 has excellent traffic management
capabilities: It provides denial-of-service protection via flow packet policing and is
able to prevent data congestion through optional token bucket packet shaping. Two Ethernet
ports are also provided for transport of the aggregated voice data stream, and can be
configured for either 100 Mbps (FE) or 1000 Mbps (GE) operation.
The MINDSPEED VoiceMaker firmware application is provided as a production quality binary
file, which means no software development effort is required for the network processor. In
addition, TSP3/VoiceMaker and Comcerto reference code is provided with the processors.
Also available are a TSP Board Developers Kit (BDK) providing hardware simulation models
(SWIFT, Verilog), as well as test benches, bus functional models, IBIS models and
reference designs.
The M27479 is currently in pre-production, with sample quantities available now.
Full-scale availability is scheduled for mid first quarter 2006.
