TOPPOLY's goal is to move beyond conventional CSTN and TFT color displays, and their all
too conventional driver circuits, by creating a new generation of System-on-Panel (SOP)
solutions that come with the timing controller, level shifter and DC/DC supply on board.
To date, the latter has been accomplished for smaller sized TFTs, but TOPPOLY is doing
everything it can to establish SOP technology for all diagonal sizes.
TOPPOLY, with headquarters in Taiwan and production plants in Taiwan and China, was
established in 1999, but it hasn't taken long for the company to grow into one of Asia's
largest TFT manufacturers.
Today, many renowned international corporations count among TOPPOLY's customers. In

To reach the described SOP goals,
TOPPOLY has chosen to pursue the Low Temperature Poly Silicon (LTPS) route, which is based
on a polysilicon (p-Si) core technology.
In addition to the advantages listed below, LTPS enables more pixels per unit area, thus
enabling better resolution or the integration of additional driver circuits. The
technology ultimately enables more compact and advanced TFTs.
LTPS ADVANTAGES:
- Higher resolution due to smaller TFT
cells
- Improved color saturation and a 10% increase in brightness compared to
conventional TFT technology
- Higher reliability due to fewer internal connecting nodes
- Reduced power consumption
- Smaller display sizes
TOPPOLY is a true pioneer in the area of transflective technology. Whereas this type of
design was once too expensive, and rarely even used, TOPPOLY has managed to apply it so
effectively in the manufacture of the company's TFT glasses that its transflective TFT
displays now operate in an extended temperature range of -20 to 70°C, and at a very
competitive cost at that! This also explains why TOPPOLY's transflective color TFTs are
increasingly finding their way into applications that have, until recently, been reserved
for transflective monochrome solutions. Even outdoor and, in particular, automotive
applications are now supported!
