4-IN-1 MULTICARD
CONNECTOR FROM YAMAICHI FOR SD, MMC, MEMORY STICK AND xD PICTURE CARD
THE NEWEST MULTICARD CONNECTOR FROM YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS ACCEPTS FOUR DIFFERENT TYPES OF
FLASH CARDS IN A SINGLE HOUSING - SD CARD, MEMORY STICK, MULTIMEDIACARD (MMC) AND xD
PICTURE CARD - AND IS DESIGNED FOR THE INSERTION OF ONE CARD AT A TIME. UNLIKE THE 5-IN-1
(FRS008-3100-0), THE NEW FRS012-2000-0 IS EQUIPPED WITH A PUSH/PUSH MECHANISM.
YAMAICHI Electronics has extended the company's FRS series with a combined
("combo") 4-in-1 Flash Card connector that, like the previously introduced
5-in-1, supports the xD Picture Card. Unlike the 5-in-1, however, the new FRS012-2000-0
omits the SmartMedia card and is in turn equipped with a Push/Push mechanism and metal
shield.

With it's small form factor of 47mm x
32.7mm x 4.8mm, the combo connector can be utilized in many applications, such as digital
TVs, printers, card readers, notebooks, PDAs and other mobile applications, and it
features a card detect switch and a write-protect switch for SD cards.
The FRS012-2000-0 is designed so that only one card can be inserted into the slot at a
time, regardless of the card format, while the card lock position is common to all card
types. YAMAICHI Electronics currently has a new variant under construction enabling easy
manual insertion and withdrawal of the card.
