ZIGBEE SOLUTION FROM ATMEL!
ATMEL has announced a Zigbee solution on several occasions in the past, and now it is here! The AVR Z-Link family is fully available and ready to be evaluated.
The new devices are based on the tried and trusted ATmega64X, ATmega128X and ATmega256X processors, while the RF component is also from ATMEL: the AT86RF230, a 2.4GHz RF transceiver.
From the total Zigbee software stack, ATMEL has optimized an 802.15.4 MAC for the AVR architecture and supplies it directly with the new solution at no cost. It enables either a point-to-point or star network that is compatible with the standard.

Various software partners provide the additional Zigbee protocol layers, with ATMEL recommending Crossbow, MeshNetics and Ubiwave.
Evaluation is facilitated by the availability of several different kits. These evaluation kits can be used either for demonstrations or as reference designs.
