Featuring a low-weight, compact design
and excellent reliability, the 851 Series soon became popular within the industrial
electronics, plant and road construction, and railroad vehicle sectors, where severe
environmental conditions are the rule.
The bayonet coupling has three locking fingers that ensure a very secure connection, and
the design of the plugs and receptacles includes 5 raised keys and slots for no-fuss
mating. The housing is aluminum alloy plated (available in olive green cadmium, black
anodized or satin-finish bright nickel) for excellent corrosion protection. Insulators
with neoprene elastomers individually seal each contact connection.
The 851 Series shielded version has a lock finger, a short backshell for extending
protection to the cable termination and heatshrink sleeving. Other versions include highly
compact straight-spill solder receptacles for board connections and a hermetically sealed
versions with glass inserts.
