PUSH/LOCK: INNOVATIVE SIM CARD READER.

YAMAICHI INTRODUCES A NEW CARD READER THAT SECURELY HOLDS SIM CARDS WITH AN INNOVATIVE PUSH/LOCK MECHANISM.

YAMAICHI Electronics developed the innovative push/lock SIM card reader (FMS006-2310-0) to hold SIM cards in cellular phones and similar applications. The innovative feature is the locking mechanism that has been added to the electromechanical portion of the device, as it secures the SIM card firmly inside the connector housing during shock and vibration.

Other target applications for the new card reader include GSM/GPRS/UMTS modems and automotive systems, or just about any device that is subject to shock and vibration.

The insert and eject mechanism is Yamaichi's tried and true push-in/push-out system, whose operation can be compared to the workings of a classic "click" pen - a simple click engages and disengages the card. The designation "push/lock" simply refers to the new SIM card reader's combined push/push and mechanical locking design.

YAMAICHI's push/lock connector conforms to the GSM11.11 standard for the European mobile telephone network. The system is designed for SMT mounting on top of the PCB and comes in tape and reel packaging (500 pcs./reel). It delivers the sort of reliability that customers have come to expect from YAMAICHI Electronics, with a mating cycle of over 5,000 insertions. A switch is not included.
