GREEN POWER FROM PHIHONG!

IS THIS THE ANSWER TO THE GLOBAL SPREAD OF SOCKET VAMPIRES?

Environmentally friendly power supplies, which go well beyond the measures set out in the limits of the ECOC Initiative, are already available on the market (ECOC = "European Commission Code of Conduct on Efficiency of EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLIES").
In view of the sector-wide necessity to pull in their belts, it is extremely surprising and pleasing that such a large number of companies and international groups are taking voluntary action to improve environmental protection.

According to the assumptions of the European Commission, every day around 10% of the electrical power consumed in Continental European households and offices is wasted by idling and standby losses. What is worse is that consumers are probably completely unaware of this waste.
In figures this represents more than 8TWh, which corresponds to 60 million tons of CO2 from calorific power plants. 68 million tons of CO2, in turn, corresponds to the output of half of all the cars registered in Germany, and constitutes a considerable weight, although this is compensated by the weight of the money lost from our wallets.

Measurements show the following idling losses from conventional modern appliances:

The signatories to the ECOC initiative expect to make savings of 500 million euros per annum as from 2010. Compliance with the self-imposed limits is designed to make this objective achievable:

The pool of ECOC signatories now includes the following companies:
Alcatel, Apple, Astec, Ault, Canon, Compaq,
Epson, HP, IBM, NEC, Sony, etc.

Although there are very few power supply manufacturers in this list, these ambitious environmental targets are being included in the development and production procedures of contract suppliers in the form of OEM partnerships. Phihong has already used this OEM expertise from the development centers in Silicon Valley, California, and in Taipei, Taiwan, in two standard series of plug-in power supplies with replaceable AC clips. All the power supplies in the PSA05R and PSA11R series already comply with the specifications for phase 3 from 1.1.2005. According to Phihong's Development Director Michael O'Connor these new findings can be used in almost all modern adapter designs. More GREEN POWER supplies are scheduled to be launched in the new future.
Versions of the PSA05R and PSA11R power supplies can be adjusted to any socket design for worldwide use due to their wide input range of 90-285 VAC using an input adapter clip. With output ratings of 5W or 11W, stabilized voltages of 3V3, 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 18V and 24V can be supplied.
