The comprehensive portfolio of TYCO Electronics products includes, among others, an extensive range of innovative power and high-power resistors. Sold under the brand name CGS, the TYCO power lineup includes wire-wound, foil, and thin-film resistors.
Power resistors are typically used in railway, aerospace, automobile, marine, and general industrial applications, particularly in drive control, converter, power supply, industrial electronics, and induction oven systems.

TYCO offers both standard and application-specific power and high-power resistors, as well as complete resistor assemblies, covering the 10W to 1500W range. To satisfy the increasingly stringent demands of the power industry, these optimized resistors also come in versions that feature innovative cooling designs. As such, they are ideally suited for use in regenerative braking applications within drive systems, where they require no additional cooling.
TYCO power and high-power resistors are available in several different foil designs to keep pace with the industry demand for both increased power and smaller package sizes.
The "flagship" product within TYCO's wire-wound high-power lineup is a member of the HS/HPV product family, while in the area of thick film technology performance honors go to the BDS series. And TYCO has already announced that it is augmenting its BDS high-power resistor series with a 1250-Watt version that should be on the market soon.
