USB CONNECTOR WITH IP69K PROTECTION
THE MODULAR SYSTEM CONCEPT BEHIND THE Y-CON FAMILY WAS FURTHER BUILT ON TO BRING US THE NEW Y-CONUSB SERIES.
Munich, October 2004: YAMAICHI Electronics has built on the modular concept behind its established Y-ConRJ45 series to add the Y-ConUSB series with USB-A and USB-B versions to the product family.
Typical applications for an industrial USB connection are data and video transmission interfaces which are exposed to environmental influences.

These are high-speed applications ideally suited to the USB 2.0 data rate of 480Mbits/s. Other protected USB applications include service interfaces for machine updates and up-/downloads in field applications (software updates, information exchange, machine control, etc). The plug and play functionality of USB is an added advantage.
The cover and flange of the Y-ConUSB is identical with the Y-ConRJ45, which means the new series offers not only full protection according to IP67, IP68 and IP69K, but also reduces costs when changing or laying out new interfaces. An IP20 version is available as well. The operating temperature range is a robust -20 to +85°C.
The modular system enables the simple design-in of USB jacks on customer-specific boards, while compliance with the USB 2.0 specification ensures compatibility with standard USB cables.
To ensure the industrial suitability of the USB connection, YAMAICHI has developed the first ruggedized USB cable on the market.
The standard cable assembly length is 2m for both IP69K and IP20 variants, and additional lengths and combinations are available on request.
