4:1 WIDE-INPUT DC/DC CONVERTERS FOR 15W-100W
|
MURATA_PS has introduced several new DC/DC product families for industrial applications, each offering a wide input range in a single module. Such modules are typically required by solutions whose production runs are too small to warrant multiple assembly options. The UEI product family with basic insulation targets the lower power range of 15W to 60W. It is offered with industry-standard pinouts in sizes 2” x 1.6” and 1” x 1” (the latter identical in pinout to previous 2”x1” versions) and is designed for use with fanless cooling. The more powerful UQQ converter family – 50W to 100W – comes in a standard ¼-brick size and also offers an optional basic cooling plate for contact-type heat dissipation. The products’ ultra-wide 4:1 input range extends to nominal voltages of 12V / 24V within the range of 9VDC to 36VDC or 24V / 48V / 60V nominal within the range 18VDC to 75VC. The converters deliver regulated single outputs of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V or 24V, with currents of up to 25A at 3.3V. Efficiencies range from 87% (min.) to 91% (typ.), with a tendency to increase as the input voltage is lowered – thus positively impacting autarkic solar-powered systems. The UEI 15W series with a 1” x 1” footprint is built around the popular industry-standard W-pinout – typical for 2”x1” 15W converters of recent years. The pin configuration is thus identical, whereas power density has doubled thanks to only half the surface area. Efficiency has also been dramatically increased, ranging from a minimum of 83% to 89% typical. These new converters are suited for use in a fanless environment with ambient temperatures from UEI 15W Overview:
The UEI 50W - 60W series is built on a 2”x1.6” footprint and comes in a tried-and-tested industry-standard pinout identical to that found in 25W to 30W devices of recent years. While the pinout remains the same, the devices offer twice the power density thanks to the higher output power and an efficiency that now ranges from 86% minimum to 91% typical. These new converters are suited for use in a fanless environment with ambient temperatures from UEI 50W - 60W Overview:
The UQQ 100W series is comes in a standard ¼-brick size and pinout. Efficiency ranges from 87% minimum to 91% typical, which enables use of the converters in a fanless environment in many cases. The optionally available basic baseplate supports heat dissipation via a heatsink for operation in the temperature range -40°C to +85°C. The integrated overtemperature cutoff is active from a temperature of +120°C and upwards. To protect against overcurrents, power limiting activates in the range 125% to 150% of I-nominal, thus reducing output voltage as current increases until, ultimately, the hiccup-mode short circuit protection activates. The regulated output voltage is adjustable to +10/-20% and can be switched via remote On/Off signaling. In addition, remote sensing is available to stabilize the output when long output lines are required. UQQ 100W Overview:
