EMERSON: LPS SERIES DELIVERS 100W, OR 150W WITH COOLING FAN,

EMERSON’s LPS series offers a comprehensive choice of output voltages – from 5V to 48V – on a surface area of only 50mm x 100mm, along with multiple approvals according to EN/UL/IEC 60950 and 60601. The series provides 100W of continuous power under natural convection cooling (80W for 5VDC output), with a peak overload rating of 170W; or 150W continuous (120W for 5VDC) with 30CFM of forced air cooling. An additional 12V output to supply the cooling fan ensures that potential interference voltages from the fan will not affect the main output. Remote sensing with reverse polarity protection is also provided to help compensate for cable voltage drops, as is a power fail signal to enable monitoring of the input voltage for at least 6ms before the output breaks down under full load and a low input potential. The outputs are regulated for a total voltage deviation of +/-2%, with typical ripple values of 1% pk-pk.
The series is specified for full-load operation in the ambient temperature range of 0° to +50°C, and for derated operation between +50°C and a maximum of +70°C with output power reduced by as much as 50% (-2.5% per degree). Cold start-up is guaranteed as low as -20°C, while the automatic cutoff function protects against thermal overloading. EMERSON has managed to accommodate this much functionality within a space of only 50mm x 102mm x 33mm. In addition, the series was designed with an emphasis on highest reliability and availability, leading to demonstrated MTBF values of over 550,000 hours at 25°C.
