FCI has introduced an SD-card connector that serves as an ideal contacting unit for removable memory cards in automotive multimedia systems. Be it MP3 music players, game consoles or GPS navigation systems, consumer and entertainment electronics are increasingly finding their way into automobiles, where system requirements are also becoming more demanding by the day.

In response, FCI developed the new 10067847 series of SD-card connectors specifically for such automotive applications and their more stringent demands – for example, with a higher operating temperature range and an increased number of mating cycles.

The new SD-card connectors offer a push-push latching mechanism and are designed to operate in the temperature range from -40°C to +105°C, with mating cycles specified at
>= 12,000. The SMT contacting units measure 2.8mm in height and ship in tape & reel packaging for automated assembly.
