RUN 4 FUN, TAKE THREE!

This year again, CODICO was well represented at the Austrian Womens Run! On May 18, 2008, at the sound of the 10 AM starting gun, 10 CODICO ladies were off and running to conquer the 5km course, with the two CODICO teams finishing 21st and 98th respectively, in a field that included 170 total teams!

Tina Burian, 31:35.1
“Thanks to Barbara’s exceptional motivational tactics and organization, I participated in my first professional running event ever. It was great fun to start the race with over 16,000 female runners, and to make it to the finish line despite the hot weather! I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.”

Hannelore Feleki, 34:46.1
“This was my second Womens Run and I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first one! It was another fine opportunity to do some training and get into shape! I will definitely do it again next year!”

Petra Geister, 27:39.8
“I took part for the second time and it was again quite an experience, with so many women and all of them so dedicated. It was the same superb team effort, too, with many family members and colleagues along to cheer us on. The weather held up, but it was very humid and that made the run more difficult. Still, each of us achieved a fantastic result and I’m sure I’ll be doing it again next year!”

Selma Hamzic, 32:39.8
“The Womens Run was an amazing experience. I had my motivator (my husband) to encourage me, and he pushed me to train for the race. So, I was ready to do my best – I even set a goal of 30 minutes. I didn’t actually train that much, but I sure did enjoy the great food! On the day of reckoning, I didn’t feel up to it at first and told myself, ‘just get it over with fast.’ But when I arrived at the meeting point and saw all my coworkers full of energy and motivation, it was catching. Then, when I heard the starting gun, I just started running and it turned out to be lots of fun. I’m also very happy with my excellent time of 32:39!”

Sonja Hermann, 33:06.7
“I felt better running this year than I did the year before. I finished with the same time, 33 minutes, but my conditioning was better, so I managed to keep running for longer stretches. There were groups of drummers along the route, and even a stage, and that provided additional motivation. Fortunately, there was a drink station at the 2.5 km point. The only thing I didn’t like was that we had to wait for drinks after the finish. It would have been better to have refreshments first, before the rose that each of us received. There were tons of people once again and the atmosphere was exceptional! I’m glad that I participated.”

Barbara Maier, 28:55.1
“As in the past, it was lots of fun joining my coworkers to take part in this year’s event. Everyone gave their all, and we again showed that we’re a great team, even outside of work.”

Elisabeth Streiter-Bax, 26:02.8
“It seems each year is the same, with a great atmosphere and really warm weather. At the finish line, we received medals and roses, and we were greeted by our happy and proud ‘paparazzis’ (i.e., husbands, sons and friends who came along) who had lots of pictures for us. It really is something special to run with my coworkers. Unfortunately, I didn’t run my best time of the year for this distance. But, considering that I couldn’t train for four weeks due to a shoulder injury, I’m quite happy with my time. I can’t wait for next year’s Womens Run!”

Sandra Strohmaier, 27:12.9
“This year was my second Austrian Womens Run and it was a fantastic experience – just like last year. It’s too bad I wasn’t able to beat last year’s time, but I’m glad I was able to finish despite my knee problems. A big thank you goes out to Barbara, who once again did such a great job of organizing for us to participate in this running event.”

Ines Wurdinger, 33:17.9
“I signed up for the run right after I received the phone call inviting me to take part! This year, too, I certainly didn’t want to miss it. Unfortunately I didn’t reach my goal of beating last year’s time. But, with such a sensational atmosphere both before the run and on the course, the time was actually of secondary importance. Many thanks to our sponsor (CODICO management) and my coworker Barbara Maier for her organizational effort!”
