AMPIRE: Onward to New Applications – with High Brightness, Sunlight Readability and MVA/IPS!
|
In the field of TFT displays, increasingly specialized applications are driving the need for improved performance and characteristics. As a result, you, too, likely require just the right combination of features and characteristics for your application more frequently than before. AMPIRE, our long-standing manufacturer/supplier in this segment, offers a variety of options for achieving the perfect combination without the need for a fully customized solution and the higher one-off costs that this would entail. One of AMPIRE’s key strengths is flexibility, which means a fitting, customer-oriented solution can be found in virtually every case. And now, it is possible to combine the features mentioned above with popular resistive and capacitive touch panel technologies in sizes from 3.5” to 10.4”! The following is a summary of what’s new from AMPIRE: Sunlight Readability: As already mentioned for the high brightness modules, here, too, the primary emphasis is on readability and the effect of energy savings. In principal, sunlight readability is achieved through high brightness – or the use of so-called “transflective TFTs.” Transflective TFTs have an additional polymer layer that simultaneously reflects and transmits light, which means they combine transmissive (with backlight) and reflective (without backlight) characteristics. This solution is frequently used in outdoor applications and mobile devices to keep power consumption low, but without compromising optical performance. MVA/IPS: Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment or In-Plane Switching, as it is also called, refers to new, higher-contrast technologies that contribute to better readability and broader viewing angles independent of the viewing direction. As a result, viewing angles of 80° to 85° from any viewing direction are now possible. In turn, modules that are commonly built in for landscape or portrait viewing can now be installed in any direction. Other advantages of this technology include the ability to choose from among different mechanical characteristics, such as the position of the flexible film connector, and to use the display accordingly. MVA / IPS also provides the advantage of enabling high-resolution displays. For example, 3.5” and 4.3” TFTs with a resolution of up to 800x480 are offered. In addition, WSVGA (1024x600) for 7” modules – instead of standard WVGA and SVGA – is no longer a problem. For additional information, please contact us! |
