FCI RIB-CAGE™ CONNECTORS PASS STRINGENT SHOCK AND VIBRATION TESTING

FCI, a leading developer and manufacturer of connectors and interconnect systems, recently announced that its 1.27mm-pitch Rib-Cage™ connectors have passed stringent shock and vibration testing in accordance with MIL-STD-202, method 204, and IEC 60512, test 8d. Long prized for their multi-point, gold-plated receptacle design, Rib-Cage™ connectors also provide optimal reliability in high-vibration and shock-prone environments, such as those often encountered in industrial, instrumental, military and medical applications.
The Rib-Cage™ system has already proven itself in hundreds of different applications ranging from disk drives to industrial weight and measurement systems. As a result, you, too, will be assured of years of extended service, even in extreme applications such as locomotive and outdoor communications systems.

“Recent shock and vibration testing now certifies that Rib-Cage™ connectors are perfect for applications on the edge, for customers who expect their electronic equipment to perform under duress,” says David Hansen, FCI global product marketing manager.

Rib-Cage™ is part of FCI's MezzSelect™ family of mezzanine connectors. It is a high-density, 1.27mm (0.05 inch) pitch, two-row, SMT, mezzanine board-to-board connector system that supports three PCB stack heights and offers additional options for right-angle mounting. The system has a 1A current rating and is ideal for connecting flexible and rigid circuit boards alike.
Rib-Cage™ connectors are designed for a reliable 200 mating cycles. They feature low mating force for easy use and high un-mating force for connection security, while the polarized housing prevents mis-mating. Various contact position, connection and packaging options are available to support customer-specific PCB requirements.

FCI Rib-Cage™ is available in ten different sizes ranging between 10 and 100 contacts. The system is also well suited for cost-effective commercial applications, such as portable devices, motor vehicle systems, test equipment, security and access control electronics, sub-assemblies with motors, diagnostic applications and POS cash register terminals.
