Firmware Update Over the Air (FOTA) is now available for SAGEM’s HiLo family in the form of "Delta FOTA." Standard FOTA enables firmware updates via wireless GPRS without the need for expanding the module or being physically present at a certain location. With “Delta FOTA,” SAGEM HiLo modules do not even require transmission of the entire firmware, which does cost time and money, as they can now be updated via transmission of the firmware changes alone (a matter of 10s of KBytes).
The NetworkScan feature enables the field strength and quality of service for all receivable networks to be determined without the need of a SIM card from a network operator. This simplifies and speeds up end testing during production, as it is no longer necessary to use a GSM network simulator or to manually insert a SIM card in each device. NetworkScan also provides additional advantages for certain groups of wireless devices serving automated, remote readout/maintenance, security and POS applications, since it is now possible to determine the network with the best receive quality, and also the ideal installation site, prior to selecting a network.
