Reed relays are extremely reliable and ideally suited for especially low switching loads, regardless whether a high or low switching rate is used (even as low as once every 10 years). And, compared to similarly dimensioned conventional electromagnetic relays, reed relays can be designed for very high switching voltages (up to 10kV). They are also available in DIL and SMD packages, two commonly used formats for PCB mounting in the microelectronics industry.
