Depending on the specific version, slide switches are used to make or break an electric contact, or to switch between contacts. They are used in a number of different applications, and are usually offered with 2-3 switch positions in one of two designs: SPDT (single-pole- double-terminal) or DPDT (douple-pole-double-terminal).
