Smart Display & Service Terminals

Smart Displays, Dumb Terminals?

Smart displays are screens containing their own intelligence, i.e. they can function independently without the help of a computer. In most cases, however, they are nonetheless connected to other computers.
Service terminals, on the other hand, are only used to display and enter information. They do not possess their own functionality. They cannot operate without a connection to an external computer.
Examples of intelligent displays and service terminals are:

  • Digital signage
  • Automated teller machines (ATMs)
  • Digital fipcharts
  • Digital room signage
  • Digital price tags
  • Ticket dispensing machines
