POL: Point-of-load step-down switching regulator modules provide very compact plug & play-capable solutions for currents of 1A and higher. Their non-isolated topology ensures high efficiency, to go with fast and precise regulation of the output voltage. The typical input voltage range lies between 5Vdc and 14Vdc. With the new OKI-78SR and OKR series from MURATA PS, we are now able to also supply modules with the above characteristics that are designed for a nominal 12V-24V, and for use in typical industrial automation and control applications.

The OKI-78SR is the third type of non-isolated, complete modules for a wide input range beyond 24V in our portfolio. The series is designed for lower-power applications with up to 1.5A on 5V or 3V3 outputs, and is typically used as a replacement for LDOs in circuits where dissipation loss is a critical aspect. The SIP modules come in the typical TO-220 form factor to optimally replace industry-standard 7805 and 7803 ICs. The wide 7 to 36Vdc input range enables the use of a variety of different supply options: nominal 9V, 12V, 15V, 24V, 28V, 32V, etc. Despite the extreme input range, efficiency is a high 86% - 90%. Safety approval in accordance with the new EN/UL/IEC 60950-1 (2nd edition) further underscores this ready-to-go solution’s ease of use.
