YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS has launched a new multicard or combination card connector. The FRS016T-2000-0 offers two slots offset by 90° and stacked in one casing for microSD flash memory cards as well as SIM chip cards. The SIM card is operated manually and the microSD card through the convenient Push/Push mechanism.

The small form factor and installation height of only 2.85mm makes the card connector suitable for tight spaces in mobile phones and other end devices. The combination of SIM module and microSD card is commonly used in these applications. And, as a single component for both card types, the FRS016T-2000-0 best meets the requirements. At the same time, the new connector reduces development time and saves space for any conceivable design.

Card slots stacked above each other at a 90° offset allow for a flexible design-in, one in which the SIM card is inserted into the internal connector within the casing as stipulated, e.g., below the battery pack. The microSD card slot, on the other hand, is located on the exterior of the casing. This design conforms to the input/output connector. The electromechanical FRS016T-2000-0 component is RoHS compliant and is delivered in tape-on-reel packaging for automated SMT assembly. The component is mounted to the top side of the circuit board.
