Today everybodys talking about the "Internet of Everything" and AllJoyn. These terms are understood to mean the total networking of all electronic devices from all conceivable sectors, such as household appliances, entertainment electronics, home and building automation, and mobile terminals. The intention is that the devices should be able to talk to one another directly, even without an access point, with the user having access to them via an Internet application. As well as the processing of constantly increasingly amounts of data, and the growing complexity of SW and protocols, with Wi-Fi solutions the demand for Low is growing louder. Qualcomm Atheros has the answer the two new modules QCA4002 and QCA4004.
The two new SoC modules QCA4002 and QCA4004 (manufacturing process: CMOS 55nm from TSMC) provide an intelligent platform for all IoE applications where costs and low-power optimization really count. Both SoCs support 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), in Single as well as in Dual Mode, with the integrated network controller (Xtensa CPU, 130 MHz) can process a wide range of TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6)-based applications with the most widely differing security protocols (WPS, WPA, WPA2, etc.) at a data rate of up to 150 Mbps. As well as a sleep mode fitted with special features, the Green Tx Power Saving Mode and the Low Power Listen Mode are particularly impressive when it comes to reducing power loss. Both modules can be connected as a modem via an SPI/UART interface to a host processor, but they both have enough computing and memory resources to integrate an application completely, even without an additional host.
