A family of 16V, 2-3A step-down converters in SOT23 package

The MP1494 is a synchronous step-down converter that is ideal for 5V or 12V applications with a 2-3A output current. Integrated MOSFETs, a fixed switching frequency of 500 kHz and no external Schottky diode in an SOT23-8 package permit a compact overall solution.

The chip operates in the 'current mode' which permits fast adaptation to load changes and also offers high efficiency, even at low output currents. Additional properties include Power Good, internal softstart, as well as the option of synchronizing to an external frequency. This is possible within a range from 200 kHz to 2 MHz.
