With Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. (MPS) newly on board, CODICO has gained a strong partner for highly integrated DC/DC converter ICs.
Though not yet among the best known suppliers in Europe, MPS is already firmly established in the USA and Asia. MPS CCFL inverters, for example, are used in 90% of the products of a leading laptop manufacturer.
Formed in 1997, and headquartered in San Jose, California, MPS has built its market strength around three key pillars:
- deep systems-level and applications knowledge
- strong analog design expertise
- and innovative process technology
MPS proprietary BCD Plus process technology enables products that combine high power density and efficiency at once. To name just one example, the MP2360 achieves 1.8A continuous output current in a miniature (2mm x 2mm) QFN package.
MPS IC products are subdivided into the following main categories:
- DC/DC step-down converters (synchronous and non-synchronous)
- DC/DC step-up converters
- CCFL inverter ICs
- LED driver ICs
- Class-D audio amplifiers
