THERMAL SWITCH-ON CURRENT AND OVERCURRENT LIMITERS

PRCP – POLYMER RESETABLE CIRCUIT PROTECTORS!

Polymer-based positive temperature coefficient, or PTC, thermistors are exceptionally well suited for overcurrent protection functions in electrical circuits. When a certain current level is reached, this type of device automatically increases its resistance to prevent other components from being damaged or breaking down entirely. Thermistors manufactured with polymer as the basis, or PRCPs, furthermore provide faster switching in the high ohmic range than do conventional PTC thermistors. As a result, their electrical behavior is almost identical to that of a thermal (thermo) switch, but without the disadvantage of a mechanical contact. As soon as the fault condition is corrected, the PRCP automatically resets, meaning it returns to the low ohmic state.

- Computers (to protect various interfaces, such as USB 2.0, USB OTG, etc.)  

- Automotive (DC motors, infotainment systems, and safety and comfort applications)

- Industrial applications
