XC9140 – Synchronous step-up PFM DC/DC converter

The XC9140 series are synchronous DC/DC step-up converters that support ceramic capacitors and have an integrated 0.6? (typ.) N-channel transistor and a 0.65? (typ.) P-channel switching transistor. The PFM control of this series enables the lowest quiescent current, which makes these products ideal for applications which demand high efficiency.

If the required output voltage is 3.3 V and the output current is 1 mA, then it is possible for the IC to operate at an input voltage of Vin =0.9 V, or above. This property enables the IC to operate from a single alkaline or nickel-metal hydride battery cell. The XC9140 can be ordered with output voltages of between 1.8V and 5.0V (±2.0%) in steps of 0.1V.

An important property of the XC9140 is the load disconnect function which enables the input and output to be separated when it is switched off (XC9140A). In addition, there is also a “bypass mode” (XC9140C).

The IC is available in a USP-6 and SOT25 package, in the same way as the evaluation board.
