CENELEC A-Band: Reserved for utilities
The European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization CENELEC defined in their Norm EN 50065-1 "Signaling on low-voltage electrical installations in the frequency range 3kHz to 148.5kHz" five frequency bands for communication in energy distribution networks with different entry requirements, the so called CENELEC bands.

|-||3 kHz ... 9 kHz||For electric distribution companies use only|
|A||9 kHz ... 95 kHz||For electric distribution companies use and their licenses|
|B||95 kHz ... 125 kHz||Available for consumers with no restriction|
|C||125 kHz ... 140 kHz||Available for consumers only with media access protocol|
|D||140 kHz ... 148.5 kHz||Available for consumers with no restriction|
These five frequency bands are referred to with the letters "A", "B", "C" und "D" whereas the lowest one does not have a designation.
Out of these five frequency bands in the range of 3 kHz to 148.5 kHz three bands are reserved for communication services inside the building. The lowest frequency band and the A band are located below 95 kHz and are reserved for data communication applications of the electric distribution companies. The B band in the range from 95 kHz to 125 kHz, the C band from 125 kHz to 140 kHz and the D-Band from 140 kHz to 148.5 kHz are intended for private use inside buildings. The products offered from CODICO in the area of Narrow Band Power Line Communication work in the frequency range from 5 kHz to 500 kHz and can be adjusted flexibly to the different CENELEC bands.
