Detailed information
The ChargeBridge Evaluation Kit MCS from PIONIX enables the development of charging stations and vehicles for the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) on a laboratory bench.
The Megawatt Charging System is the charging standard for commercial vehicles, construction and mining machinery, and vessels, supporting charging capacities exceeding one megawatt. MCS utilizes Single Pair Ethernet (10BASE-T1S, in accordance with ISO 15118-10) for communication, as opposed to the Powerline communication used in CCS, and employs ISO 15118-20 as the application protocol. Signaling at the connector is handled via "Charge Enable" and "Insertion Detection" (per IEC 61851-23-3); the ChargeBridge module connects both of these signals directly to the charging cable.
The kit combines the CB-MCS ChargeBridge module with an open breakout board from PIONIX, which provides access to all module interfaces via connectors. The module can operate in either EVSE or EV mode.
