Standards drive developments forward

In a rapidly expanding industry, clear standards are not just necessary; they are indispensable. These standards ensure safety, guarantee quality, and foster trust. The IEC 62053-41:2021 standard plays a pivotal role in the advancement of electromobility, establishing mandatory guidelines for DC electricity meters with accuracy classes 0.5 and 1 in DC charging stations.

Two prevalent technologies for calibration-compliant current measurements in electric vehicle DC charging stations are the Hall effect sensor and the current measuring resistor (shunt). The shunt stands out for its high precision, long-term stability, and straightforward implementation. Following a single calibration, the shunt achieves an impressive accuracy of less than 0.5%, whereas the Hall effect sensor hovers just below 2%.
