EV Charging Controller DB2605 is ISO 15118-20 Ready

DROPBEATS DB2605 Controller
DROPBEATS, a global leader in communication controllers for electric vehicles, has developed the DB2605, a compact AC EV Charging communication controller designed to fully meet the requirements of ISO 15118-20 and enable seamless Plug & Charge, smart charging, and future Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities.
SamplesSupporting New EU Regulations
With this, DROPBEATS supports the new EU regulations that, starting January 1, 2027, mandate compliance with ISO 15118-20 for all newly installed or renovated charging stations – including private wallboxes.
This requirement is based on Regulation (EU) 2023/1804 on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure (AFIR) and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/656, published in the Official Journal of the European Union on June 18, 2025. Both legal acts stipulate that all new AC and DC charging stations, whether public or private, must support the current international standard EN ISO 15118-20:2022. This standard ensures secure, smart, and interoperable charging for electric vehicles worldwide.
Manufacturer Perspective
“We welcome the EU’s leadership in mandating smart, secure, and future-ready charging standards,” said Michael Jiang, founder at DROPBEAT. “Our DB2605 controller empowers manufacturers to stay ahead of regulation, reduce development complexity, and deliver world-class EV charging experiences.”
Early Integration Across Europe
Powered by advanced Qualcomm chipsets, the DB2605 includes a pre-certified software stack for ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20, ensuring compatibility with the latest EV models and infrastructure worldwide.
DROPBEATS is already working with EVSE manufacturers across Europe to integrate the DB2605 ahead of schedule, ensuring a smooth regulatory transition and fostering a smarter electric vehicle charging ecosystem.
